CeNSE is also coordinated with the UK Nano-Scale Engineering Certificate Program (NECP), recently formed by the College of Engineering with a grant from the NSF. The purpose of this program is to enable undergraduate students in participating departments to learn the fundamentals and applications of nano-science and nano-engineering. Upon completion of the undergraduate degree program and the specific course requirements associated with the certificate program, the students are awarded Nano-Scale Engineering Certificates in addition to their B.S. degrees. More information is available on-line at www.engr.uky.edu/~necp. Additionally, the Faculty associates encourage applications from qualified undergraduate and graduate students as well as post-doctoral fellows to carry out on-going research.
CeNSE also has a strong community-centered component including outreach activities/training for Kentucky Rogers Scholars, UK Robinson Scholars, Math, Science, and Technology Center students at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, and the Fayette County School Experience-Based Career Education participants.
